Residents have to wait long periods of time to be changed or assisted to the restroom. The cafeteria doesn't know hot to cook meat it is always overcooked and tough. The general manager doesn't walk around to see what is going on and allows the employees to run the operations.
The head administrator never even introduced himself to me once nor did he ever visit my mom one time to oversee the horror that is ongoing there. When you press the red button for help to get to the bathroom ; you are ignored for at least an hour and told that your aid was on break or at lunch. When you go in the hall she is standing around gossiping with other employees and mocking me and rudely imitating the way I walk or talk. When you call to get information about my mom , I am screamed at and told they are doing rounds and are too busy to talk to me.
Independent Living
My mother was there for about a month, and it was a blessing they would not admit her as a pending Medicaid patient. Although this facility is very close to me, I gladly make the trip across the lake to provide her with a tenfold better environment. Colonial Oaks Living Center is fair.
My experience with this facility is favorable. My relative loves working with the patients, and visiting them. There are always a fair share of them enjoying the cool weather in the courtyard on grounds, and the staff is always more than willing to be helpful and efficient in facilitating requests. The staff organizes events and activities for the patients, and sees to their nourishment and comfort. My mother was in skilled nursing for five weeks. We chose Colonial because it was right behind the hopital and came highly recommended.

I think most nursing homes are like this. Be careful when choosing one for your family member. At Colonial Oaks Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation, we focus on recovery and comfort with individualized short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.

Sometimes, there's paper and stuff on the floor, and they're understaffed. My mother cannot do things for herself and we're waiting right now. Sometimes you have to wait 45 minutes to get some help to get her changed. The food is pretty good, and she enjoys it.
Our Services
You might call it the “warm-fuzzies” or “paying it forward.” We call it everyday life at Colonial Oaks. Make each day a great one while knowing life’s little headaches are taken care of. You be you– we’ll take care of the rest.
Our highly experienced team gets residents back on their feet and back to life as quickly and as safely as possible. When around-the-clock nursing support is required, families can be assured their loved ones will receive the highest-quality specialized care they need, and the support and love they deserve. I witnessed nurses handing prescription drugs to residents and walking aways. By law they are suppose to stay with the resident until they take the medication. I complained to the head nurse and she said she just spoke to the nurses the day before.
The staff person came over at the sound of the alarm, and helped her. Her hip healed over time, so the gadget worked for her. The building looks safe during a hurricane. Being next door to East Jefferson Hospital means they're on a power grid that will be the first to be attended to if the electric lines go down.

They have aides on every hall and they're right out in the hall from his room. I ate there the other day with my father. Colonial Oaks Living Center in Metairie provides a warm and welcoming place of joy and dignity to those who desire a short-term stay of rehabilitation or those who can no longer safely live alone. That’s exactly what you’ll find at Colonial Oaks, Marion’s only continuum of care community.

They screamed at her and argued with her and never treated her with respect. Not once in over 40 days was I consulted on her progress or her condition. The aide there was insisting that ,y mother remain and never even come home. It was the worst smelly filthy place and it should be shut down.

She called her brother who then called Colonial Oaks & addressed the problem. She was only then taken to the hospital where she was told that she had pneumonia. She stayed in the hospital for days.
